SOS Subscription

Case Study

A desktop application that helps users to track their subscription services

Dates: May 2021

Client: Acme Analytics

Role: UX Designer & UX Researcher

overview

This case study called for a way for users to keep track of and manage their subscription applications. To clarify, those are applications to which they pay a monthly or yearly subscription continuously.

This was resolved in a desktop application which connected to a user's bank account and then allowed them to visually track all of their subscriptions, as well as alerting them each time there is a new charge.

The application provided additional features such as viewing trending applications and seeing the latest deals for each service in addition to the most prominent and direct solution features.

MY ROLE

User Experience Researcher • User Experience Designer

Problem Statement

Based on the latest study from Acme Analytics, where they interviewed 10,000 families with subscriptions of products and services, 75% of them reported being charged for a subscription they forgot to cancel.

A quote from a real user:

“It’s hard to keep track of all the products and services that we have subscribed to every month. All we see is money being deducted from our accounts, sometimes for services that we don’t need anymore."
